For quite some time, a growing trend of women who identify as heterosexual that enjoy having sex with other women has been making waves on the internet and on social media. Considering that these women call themselves straight, it seems very strange or even hypocritical that they may actually be into having casual sex with other girls. Why does this happen, and what’s the reasoning behind it? We decided to ask them and reveal the truth behind why straight girls get heteroflexible.
Kim said that a lot of it deals with curiosity. To a point, much of it is curiosity. Straight women often wonder if other women can in fact do things better than straight men. Heteroflexible girl Kim explained that much of it was about “seeing how different genders do things, and enjoying the sensation.”
Martha explained that it was just all about just getting sex. If you’re having sex, you can at least say that you’re getting an orgasm out of the deal - and that’s why Martha enjoys hooking up with women. “More women approach me than men, so I just go with what I get,” she said.
Mindy said it’s because it turns on other men. Some women hook up with other girls because they know it will turn on other men to hear about it, and they hope it’ll grab their attention. Mindy explains that she takes pride in her sexual experimentation, and that guys will be more likely to hook up with her knowing that she might agree to a threesome if they ask. “Is it sneaky? Yeah, but it works for me,” she said.
Babs suggested that it just has a different feel than doing it with men. And we’re not just talking about personalities - it’s about the actual physical sensation of when a woman touches you. “Women are softer than men,” she said, “and sometimes I’m in the mood for that.”
Janice said that it’s about competition against guys. Janice explained that, while she’s straight, she also wants to know that she’s very desirable to both genders. She often feels like she “wins” when a girl picks her over a man. “Knowing I can be more attractive to a woman than a man makes me feel good,” she said.
Moira was pretty blunt about how it makes her feel. Much like how some women feel like they win by being able to seduce other women, some women just feel validated by having another female attracted to them. Moira asked us, “Is it weird that I do it just because it makes me feel attractive?”
Elvira said it’s something that has to do with bragging rights. Many straight women who hook up with other girls say that it’s part of the whole “carpe diem” mentality they have. Simply put, they aren’t sure what will happen in the future, which is why they do whatever they can to experience everything today. “When I get old, I want to know that, yeah, I did a bunch of cool stuff,” said Elvira. “So, maybe it’s a bit of a bragging thing.”
Brenda said it’s because it’s what she does when she gets drunk. It’s amazing what a little bit of tequila can do to a person’s sexuality. Brenda admitted that she becomes more interested in women after one or two shots of whiskey. Hey, it happens.
Erin admitted that it was due to peer pressure. “I belong to a very non-hetero group of friends,” she said. “And sometimes, I’ll hook up with girls to just fit in a little bit better.” While this may not be the healthiest way to fit in and have friends, we can understand. There are times when we do some extreme stuff just to fit in.
Melissa said it’s mostly because of the fact that women know what they’re doing. Who else would know their way around a girl’s equipment better than another proud vagina owner? Melissa said that she was really impressed with women’s skills, and that’s why she will still hook up with them despite being heterosexual.
Lilah explained that she does it because she’s not quite ready to admit she’s fully bisexual. Sometimes, it’s just the label that squicks out girls. This is the case with Lilah, who is currently living in an area that isn’t exactly LGBTQ friendly. “For me, it’s more or less an issue of survival,” she said. “I have to be seen as straight, or I’m an outcast here.”
Cerulean said that it’s because women are more willing to sleep with her casually than men are. This one threw us for a loop, too. Apparently, most heterosexual women will be more likely to casually hook up than men will be, primarily because they don’t get feelings that way. So, as Cerulean put it, “It’s all business - no worries about catching feelings, and men just can’t do that.”
Allison said it’s a need for variety that drives her to sleep with other girls. For most people, sex is a lot like ice cream - having the same flavor can get boring. With Allison, she likes to have sex with other women because it is a change of pace from her usual dates with men. Variety is definitely the spice of life for her!
Sarah explained that she was just angry with men. Sometimes, men manage to hurt a woman to the point that she’ll try to just have sex with girls instead. This is what happened to Sarah. “Call me jaded or whatever, but I at least know women can’t hurt me like men can,” she confessed.
Lilly confessed that she honestly has no idea why she had sex with another girl. Some hookups are just all about a spur of the moment deal, and that’s what happened with her. After the fact, it left her feeling a bit confused. “Do I know why I did it? Nope. Would I do it again? I have no clue,” she said.
