It can be hard for a lot of teenagers to accept their parents’ divorce, and it can be even harder for them to see their parents dating someone new. However, most of the time they’re able to get over it and move on. But here, one teen was so desperate to keep her father from marrying his new girlfriend, that she decided to step in and seduce him herself. As a result, both father and daughter were arrested and charged with incest.
Arrest. A now 26-year-old woman has been arrested after being accused of incest— with her own father. According to the Sun UK, the woman was 19 when she first had sex with her husband in order to prevent him from marrying his fiancee at the time.
Incest. What’s worse is, the woman’s father did not deny her attempts at seduction and participated in the relationship as much as the daughter did. Now, both are being charged with two counts of incest over the two sexual encounters that they had.
Misplaced love. It’s unclear why the woman didn’t like her father’s girlfriend, but she didn’t want him to marry her under any means. “She offered to have sex, hoping that he would change his mind,” said the woman’s attorney, who also said her attempts to stop the wedding were out of “misplaced love, infatuation and devotion to her father,” reports the Sun UK.
Footage. The woman and her husband were found out after her younger brother discovered footage of the sexual encounters, and called police. He says at the time, he didn’t know that his sister had consented to to and was just trying to protect her from their father.
Blame. Upon arrest, the woman was evaluated by a psychologist before being taken to court. Shockingly, the woman took all the blame and insisted that her father not be charged. “That shows the extent of devotion and infatuation the defendant had for her father,” said her attorney, as reported by the Sun UK.
Leniency. Both father and daughter have plead guilty, but according to reports, both cases are being treated differently. “The situation is different. The consideration is different,” Judge Timothy Casewell said in court. Now the woman’s attorney, is insisting that her client be given leniency’s saying she meant no harm.
Trauma. “It serves no purpose to society to lock her up and punish her,” said the lawyer, as reported the Sun UK. It was said that the woman’s brother had also been suffering from trauma since the incident came to light and was even taking medication to treat his depression.
Others. The father and daughter are both set to go to trial later next month. Disturbingly enough, this isn’t the only recent case of incest between a parent and their child. In March, 37-year-old Monica Mares, along with her son, 20-year-old Caleb Peterson were both arrested and charged with incest.
Reunited. According to the Sun UK, Mares had given up her son when she was only 16 years old, but reunited with him years later. Shockingly, Mares realized that she had feelings for her son and after telling him the truth, was surprised that he felt the same way.
Confession. ”At first I told him, 'I'm sorry I don't know how you are going to react to this. I'm your mom and you're my son, but I'm falling in love with you,’” said Mares, as reported by the Sun UK. Eventually, Peterson moved in with her and the rest of her children.
Responsibilities. The pair were living together for a while, with Peterson even taking on some fatherly responsibilities and caring for Mares’ children, who were technically her half-siblings. But it was her neighbors who began to catch on to the truth that alerted police.
Arrest. Police came to their home, where they discovered the arrangement that the mother and son had. They were arrested and charged with incest, but were available to get off without going to jail after. Taking a plea bargain.
Plea. Unfortunately for them, the plea also means that they can’t see each other for 18 months. Regardless, Mares maintains this isn’t going to stop her. "He is the love of my life and I don't want to lose him,” she told the Daily Mail UK.
Commitment. Peterson said he felt the same way and was willing to do anything to keep in touch with his mother. "I will wait for her if she gets a jail sentence and I don't. For me it's not about patience it's about commitment,” he told the Sun UK.
