New sex trend alert. It’s no secret that sex trends come and ago. The newest? A product that lets men seal their urethras shut before gettin’ it on. Yes, you read that right.

New sex trend alert. So, exactly what is this technique — which is done via a product that’s now on the market — supposed to do? According to The Sun, it’s meant to protect a dude’s penis— and stop anything from getting out.

New sex trend alert. We know what you might be thinking: WTF? But unfortunately, this sex trend is *actually* a thing. The product is called — drumroll please — Jiftip. Cute, huh?

New sex trend alert. Weirdness aside, is the product actually safe? Apparently not. As The Sun points out, the phenomenon has raised a ton of concerns among health experts across the board— and with reason.

New sex trend alert. According to these health experts, there is zero evidence out there proving that Jiftip is safe. What’s more, there’s no evidence that the “penis sticker” is even effective. Uh-oh.

New sex trend alert. As a trademarked product, Jiftip is described as an “adhesive flexible sticker covering just the urethra for the containment of urine and semen.” Currently sold in three-packs for $6 (cheap, huh?), the stickers were created to replace condoms.

New sex trend alert. But why would anyone want to replace condoms, you say? For more convenience, of course. Not to mention, a “less intrusive” way to cover yourself up, as The Sun points out.

New sex trend alert. That said, sealing your penis shut is most certainly not an effective or practical form of contraception. What’s more, health experts have revealed that it’s definitely not safe either. Unsurprising, to say the least.

New sex trend alert. Moreover, the Jiftip website notes that the product is “not a condom and it is not approved for STI’s or pregnancy prevention purposes.” In other words, it’s just a product that seals your penis shut. That’s it.

New sex trend alert. Despite all this, however, the product is sold with the slogan: “Feel your partner, Feel Freedom, Feel safe.” Seemingly, the penis stickers have stirred up some controversy, because, well, the slogan is straight-up lie.

New sex trend alert. Per The Sun: "This has prompted some concern among health experts - despite the disclaimers on the site that the Jiftip is only to be used 'for pleasure enhancement and convenience’.” Sumina Global Limited, the company behind the product, has even included a timeline of its development on their official site.

New sex trend alert."Alongside the Jiftip development timeline, the site includes a blow-by-blow diagram showing how the penis stickers are used,” according to The Sun. "The product is supposed to bond to the skin, which lets you temporarily close up your urethra to 'enjoy real sex', according to the site.”

New sex trend alert. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the product told The Sun: “Don’t knock it until you’ve tried.” Still, health experts are advising folks to not try it— and to most definitely knock it.

New sex trend alert.Natika Halil, chief executive of sexual health charity the Family Planning Association, told The Sun: "There’s no evidence to suggest that this product is safe or effective, and it could potentially be very painful. As the company themselves say, it isn’t approved to prevent pregnancy or sexually transmitted infections – so if you want to avoid either of those, we’d recommend avoiding this product as well."

New sex trend alert. Halil added: "It’s quite concerning that the company implies that sex without condoms isn’t ‘real sex’, as condoms are the only form of contraception that can help prevent sexually transmitted infections.” Bottom line? Steer clear of this sex trend.
